Position Summary Department: DPH Cath Lab Title: Invasive Specialist (Tech) I, Cath Lab Tech, Cardiovascular Technologist, Cardiovascular Technician Status: Varible Full-Time Shift: 6:30AM - 7:00PM | Friday, Saturday, & Sunday *No on-call required* Orlando Health Dr. P. ABOUT DPH CATH LAB The Dr. P Phillips Cardiac Cath Lab is located on the 2nd floor of the hospital, next to PACU. The Cath Lab has four (4) Cardiac Cath Lab suites; Lab 1, 2, 3, 4. Lab 1 is mostly utilized for Interventional Radiology, some Heart Catheterizations, and vascular studies. Lab 2 is utilized for most of the procedures performed in the Cath Lab; Electrophysiology (implants only), Heart Catheterizations, Interventional Radiology and Peripheral cases. Lab 3 and 4 are our STEMI/multipurpose labs that can be utilized for all service line procedures including and dedicated for Ablations and Electrophysiology Studies. The Cath Lab has a pre/post procedural area with seven bays dedicated to monitored stretchers and fours bays dedicated to the Radial Lounge with four monitored recliners. The pre/post procedural area is hard wired for monitoring hemodynamics of our patients. Responsibilities Position Summary Performs diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention for cardiovascular procedures. Essential Functions • Works under the supervision of a preceptor and/ or charge person while in their orientation period. • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures and protocols. Assesses the patient's physical condition and age specific needs. • Ensures that patient's education of procedure performed, needs, safety, and comfort are met while in their care. • Acquires patient's clinical history and assures that the information is accurately documented. Verifies files and records for completeness and accuracy of the patient involved in studies. Archives and amends demographic information to appropriate storage media • Positions patient, equipment, associated devices, and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation. • Assesses processed image media for technical quality, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated. • When applicable, applies principals of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others. • Provides physiological and hemodynamic monitoring during diagnostic and interventional procedures. • Supports the Physician as a scrub assistant for cardiovascular procedures. • Demonstrates the knowledge of aseptic technique. • Appraises and evaluates actual and potential hemostasis of a vessel post procedure. • Locates uses and troubleshoots complex technical equipment/instruments. Acts as a resource for its operation and training • Maintains use of customer service skillsin communication with all staff, visitors, and co-workers. • Maintains adequate inventory levels of supplies, equipment, resources tools, and forms. • Ensures case turnover time to be within established department standards by maintaining proper workflow and prioritizing optimize patient care • Maintains high standards of patient care, documentation, and professionalism. • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures Qualifications Education/Training One of the following criteria must be met: CVT-RCIS or RCES: High school diploma or GED RRT or CRT: Associate degree from an accredited respiratory therapy education program. R.T.(R): Completion of an accredited radiography program. Paramedic-NREMT-P: Completion of an accredited paramedic education program. Licensure/Certification Maintain current BLS and ACLS certification. PALS may be required depending on unit specific needs. Must possess and maintain one of the following: Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) -Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification OR Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification. If you do not possess RCIS or RCES, newly hired CVT graduates must take and pass the RCIS or RCES certification within 6 months of employment at Orlando Health. Failure to pass the RCIS certification will result in removal from the Invasive Specialist Tech position.
