Job Details Position: Locum Tenens Nurse Practitioner (NP) - Gastroenterology / GI NP Weekly Estimated Pay: $4,620 - $4,950 Location: Panorama City, CA 91402 - San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles area (California healthcare job) Setting: Clinic and inpatient mix (GI clinic & hospital rounds) Start Date: May 18, 2026 Assignment Length: 6 months preferred (3 months considered for the right candidate) Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM (8-hour days); 36 hours/week Shifts per Week: 5 Call: No call required EMR: EPIC (Health Connect) - experience with EPIC preferred Job Requirements Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in California required (no licensing candidates) Board certification required (ACNP, FNP, or relevant NP GI certification as applicable) BLS (American Heart Association) Minimum 1 year recent Gastroenterology experience (GI NP, GI clinic, or inpatient GI) Comfortable performing paracentesis independently (approximately 2-3 procedures per day) Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and allied health professionals Able to complete credentialing within the required timeframe (typically 60-90 days from application) Responsibilities Provide combined clinic and inpatient GI coverage: morning rounding (2-2.5 hours) and outpatient clinic visits for the remainder of the day Perform initial consultations, review and communicate pathology results, manage and reconcile medications, and follow up on patient inquiries Perform paracentesis procedures in the clinic setting (2-3 cases per day); maintain procedural competency and documentation Provide coverage relief for a group of 12 GI physicians (this role has no additional NP/PA support) Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment, following clinical protocols and quality measures Document care thoroughly in EPIC (Health Connect) and participate in multidisciplinary team communication This is an excellent locum tenens opportunity for a Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner or GI NP seeking California locum tenens work.
