Quick Job Details Position: Locum Tenens Nurse Practitioner - Cardiothoracic Surgery (Travel NP) Location: Lexington, KY 40504 (a leading hospital in Lexington, KY) Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,880 - $3,090 Setting: Inpatient / Operating Room (Cardiothoracic Surgery Unit) Start Date: May 11, 2026 Duration: 13-week contract Shift: 24-hour weekend coverage primarily; vacation/PTO coverage as needed Hours: 36 hours per week Required Credentials & Qualifications Active Kentucky Nurse Practitioner license required (must be able to be credentialed at a leading hospital in Lexington, KY) Board Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) Minimum 1 year of NP experience in surgical, cardiothoracic, or thoracic surgery settings Current ACLS and BLS certifications; DEA required Self-query NPDB report dated within 30 days of application (required) Clean malpractice history preferred Experience with Epic EMR preferred Key Responsibilities First assist in CABG, AVR, MVR and thoracotomy/lung resection cases (operative first assist) Perform vein harvests, chest tube placement, and other cardiothoracic surgical procedures Provide inpatient rounds, procedures, and perioperative patient care during weekend shifts Participate in call coverage: approximately 1-2 call days per week and one weekend per month (Fri 7am-Mon 7am) Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, anesthesiology, nursing, and surgical support teams Document patient care and operative notes in Epic EMR Provide coverage for vacations and PTO as needed Why This Travel NP Opportunity Competitive locum tenens weekly pay and unique travel NP experience Hands-on cardiothoracic surgical experience ideal for surgical NPs and cardiothoracic NPs Work at a respected hospital in Lexington, KY - strong support for locum tenens clinicians Opportunity to strengthen operative first-assist skills and perioperative management experience How to Apply: Apply now with your CV/resume, current Kentucky NP license copy, ACLS/BLS/DEA, and NPDB self-query.
