We are seeking a nurse practitioner or physician assistant that delivers high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals undergoing stem cell transplantation and related hematology/oncology treatments in the observation unit - stem cell. This role focuses on rapid assessment, clinical management, and short-term observation of patients at risk for post-transplant complications. The advanced practice clinician works collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to provide evidence-based care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.Key Responsibilities:Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including histories and physical examinationsDiagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions in stem cell transplant and hematology/oncology patientsMonitor for and manage complications such as infection, graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), cytokine release syndrome, and treatment-related toxicitiesOrder, interpret, and respond to laboratory and diagnostic studiesPrescribe medications and therapies in accordance with scope of practice and institutional protocolsCoordinate care with hematologists/oncologists, hospitalists, nursing staff, pharmacists, and case managementFacilitate efficient patient flow, including admissions, observation management, and dischargesProvide education to patients and families regarding treatment plans, symptom management, and follow-up careEnsure adherence to infection prevention protocols for immunocompromised populationsMaintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)Participate in quality improvement initiatives and implementation of evidence-based practicesQualifications:Master?s or doctorate degree in nursing (MSN or DNP) or a graduate of an accredited physician assistant programCurrent license in the state of practiceNational certification (FNP, AGACNP, AGNP, PA-C)Current DEA license and prescriptive authorityBasic Life Support (BLS) certificationAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)Experience in hematology/oncology, stem cell transplant, or acute care medicineOncology certification (e.g., AOCNP, or oncology-focused PA experience)Familiarity with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and cellular therapiesExperience in hospital-based or observation unit settingsKey Skills and Competencies:Strong clinical judgment and advanced diagnostic skillsAbility to manage high-acuity, complex patients with a high degree of autonomyExcellent interdisciplinary communication and teamworkKnowledge of care for immunocompromised patientsPatient education and counseling expertiseFlexibility and efficiency in a fast-paced clinical environmentInterested in learning more?
