Data Engineering Intern - REMOTE

OverviewFirst American is seeking to support cloud modernization initiatives with a focus on migrating data engineering workloads from Azure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This internship provides hands-on experience with production-grade data systems that support mission-critical real estate products.ResponsibilitiesAssist in the migration of data pipelines from Azure-based infrastructure to GCPDesign, build, and test ETL workflows in cloud-native environmentsRefactor and optimize existing data transformation processes for scalability and performanceSupport data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance effortsContribute to technical documentation and architectural diagramsCollaborate with product engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of data servicesParticipate in code reviews and version control workflowsTarget Skillset / QualificationsStrong SQL skillsPython for data engineering and transformationExperience with data manipulation using Pandas and NumPyUnderstanding basic machine learning concepts, including regression, classification, clustering, model evaluation, and overfittingAbility to build, train, and evaluate ML models using tools like Scikit-learnFamiliarity with data visualization tools such as Matplotlib or SeabornUnderstanding of basic statistics, probability, and machine learning concepts (regression and classification)Experience with data cleaning, preprocessing, and exploratory data analysis (EDA)Knowledge of ETL processes and experience with ETL tools such as Informatica; familiarity with GCP tools (BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Composer, Cloud Storage) is an added advantageFamiliarity with cloud platforms (Azure and/or GCP preferred)Understanding of distributed data processing conceptsExperience with version control (e.g., GitHub)Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and data modelingStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsNotesNote that the following statements apply to candidates who will be working from an unincorporated area within Los Angeles County.
