District 1 is hiring for Assistant Store Directors. Multiple locations in the north, south, west metro areas. Example locations can be Maplegrove or any store in the district.Job Overview:To assist the Store Director in maintaining a positive work environment for associates and a positive shopping environment for the customer, providing the highest quality products at the lowest possible prices. To assist the Store Director in the planning, coordinating and training for the store operation to ensure expense control and an overall store profitability. Manages the store in theabsence of the Store Director.What does it mean to be part of the Cub Leadership Team?Being part of the CUB retail leadership team means driving operational excellence, developing strong store teams, and creating a consistent, customer-focused experience across every location.Job Responsibilities:Promotes a customer-focused approach to growth by creating an atmosphere of enthusiastic personalized customer serviceIn the absence of the Store Director, resolves customer relations issuesProvides leadership to create and maintain positive public relations and involvement with the communityProvides leadership and direction to all store associatesTrains and supervises all Department Managers (except Pharmacy and Service Operations) and other store associates in all store activities, policies and proceduresInterviews and selects individuals to fill grocery/drug jobsAccountable for the profitability of the total storePractices aggressive cost control for all in-store operating, maintenance and supply costsEnsures that individual departments effectively schedule work hours and control overtime expendituresFollows proper administrative procedures and completes all required reportsEnsures proper merchandising of product by understanding and following schematics and merchandising of weekly merchandising newsletterParticipates in all store activities in order to maximize sales, earnings and customer satisfaction in the storeImplements Company and regional merchandising, operating and advertising policies and proceduresMeets frequently with Department Managers to review ads, sales plans, store conditions, store promotionsWorks to attain budgeted sales and profit goalsReviews and analyzes P&L statementsDevelops and implements plans to reduce department shrinkDetermines labor coverage needs for departments based on an analysis of current and projected sales and market conditions, and schedules associates based on those needsDetermines proper inventory levels in departments and establishes procedures for maintaining proper inventory levels to eliminate out-of-stock conditionsCoordinates all communication to venders on product amounts and placementSupervises the receipt of stock by associatesMonitors and complies with government safety, sanitation regulations and wage and hour lawsManages pricing integrity in the store by providing support to the Scanning Department and ensuring proper signing standards.Job Requirements: Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Food Safety Certification Required within 90 daysBachelor's Degree preferredDepartment Manager experienceFresh department experienceAbility to work varying shifts and days of the week (may include evenings, weekends, early morning or late shifts).Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.Work Environment: Onsite Role: This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of our UNFI locations, such as a distribution center or office.This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.Physical Environment/Demands:Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.Ability to reach, lift, stack and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 55 lbs.Ability to push and pull fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacksManual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are necessary. Requires the physical ability to be able to cover for various positions throughout the store as required.May occasionally be exposed to temperatures of approximately -20* Fahrenheit, 28* Fahrenheit, and 35* Fahrenheit, while handling products in freezers, coolers and display cases. Temperatures of approximately 150* Fahrenheit while handling products in hot cases. Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled store cumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of normal workdayIncumbent may sit for periods of time at desk or computer terminal.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature of the work performed by the employees assigned to this job.
