Sr. Quality Engineer - First Dollar (Remote) Work Location Type Home Based Job Summary & Responsibilities The Sr. Quality Engineer will report to the Technology Department. This role is responsible for leading a team of QA testers/engineers in testing our suite of products and software products to consistently deliver the highest quality solutions via SaaS and On-Premises models. You will be an experienced leader in driving and implementing QA frameworks, processes, and strategies. You will implement industry standard quality assurance policies and practices, and ensure they are followed by measuring product and process quality. The incumbent will be expected to build the appropriate relationships and trust at all levels within the organization as they effectively communicate project issues, status, and successes with all team members at all levels. This incumbent must be creative, client focused, solutions-driven, organized, and thrive in an extremely dynamic environment as well as have solid people skills. Direct the development of the QA strategy, methodology, discipline, and framework. Drive and improve the QA team in areas of automated testing and agile testing. Provide technical expertise in Test Automation, Testing Methodologies, Testing Processes, Tools, and Techniques across the teams. Responsible for defining QA strategy, approach, and execution in development projects. Lead and direct the QA team; provide leadership and technical expertise within Test Automation and Quality Assurance. Performance management, coaching, and professional development for QA staff; ensure testing skill set is up to date and capable of supporting the development effort. Focus on continuous QA improvements including usage of appropriate testing tools, test techniques, and test automation. Build and maintain quality standards and enforce technical and testing standards. Monitor QA activities, test results, defects, root cause analysis, and identify areas of improvement; implement steps to improve processes. Ensure proper usage of tools to maximize QA effectiveness (functional testing, performance testing, automation, etc.). Manage training and continuous learning of QA staff through courses, conferences, meetups, certifications, etc. Serve as escalation point for all QA-related matters and act as primary contact for the QA teams. Collaborate with development teams to develop and execute QA strategies to meet and exceed department and company quality goals. Gather and present testing metrics and testing activities to key stakeholders. Coordinate with business partners such as Customer Support, Client Services and Operations to incorporate feedback into the QA process. Facilitate inter-team communication across agile projects and measure product quality across teams; share metrics with management and stakeholders. Balance best-practice decisions with delivering high business value. Outline detailed testing tasks and estimates during sprint planning; ask the right questions to proactively avoid quality risk. Engage with developers to outline how solution design impacts dependencies. Design and produce high-quality automated test cases within a defined framework; develop testable interfaces between the system under test and the automation framework. Translate manual regression test cases into automated tests; ensure automated regression tests run in a nightly build. Contribute to merge up/down through development process and adhere to code promotion processes. Apply static code analysis to identify readability, anti-patterns, and coverage issues; monitor automated test results and hold teams accountable for quality. Conduct cross-team automated test case reviews; define, develop, maintain, and clean test data for automated tests. Support timely releases and adhere to release activities; collaborate outside the product team to foster a development community. Promote self-study and best practices; review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely feedback. Provide code review and analysis of automation code; mentor junior team members. Develop and maintain regression test suites; estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities. Design, develop and execute automation scripts using open-source tools; identify, document, track, and verify bugs; perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved. Stay up to date with new testing tools and strategies; liaise with internal teams to identify system requirements and monitor debugging process results. Accountable for timely releases and adherence to release activities; support and mentor junior team members. Other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Years of Experience: 5-7 years of experience Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience Certification: QA testing related certifications (or willingness to obtain) such as CSTE, CSQA, CAST Skills & Abilities: Practical AI experience - Comfortable using tools like GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude for prototyping, debugging, and problem-solving Leverage AI as a tool, not a replacement; AI should enhance productivity while maintaining engineering judgment and code quality Demonstrated experience using AI responsibly to accelerate development workflow and improve code quality Pay Range $91,000-$111,000 per year The compensation for this position will vary depending on location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive and bonus opportunities.
