Job Title: AV ProgrammerDepartment: AV ProgrammingReports To: Director of AV TechnologyLocation:Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced AV Programmer to design, develop, deploy, and maintain control system solutions supporting complex audiovisual projects. This role focuses on building reliable, scalable AV control systems using modern programming practices to enhance functionality, integration, and long-term maintainability.The AV Programmer works closely with clients, systems engineers, project managers, and internal teams to understand requirements and develop efficient, well-structured control code that integrates AV hardware with networked and software-driven platforms. The ideal candidate combines deep AV programming expertise with strong software development skills and a continuous-learning mindset.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, and deploy AV control system programs for audiovisual projectsProgram and configure AV control platforms, user interfaces, and system logicCollaborate with systems engineers, project managers, and clients to define system functionality, scope, and implementation approachDevelop maintainable, well-documented control code and system architectures that support long-term support and scalabilityModify and enhance existing control programs to accommodate system changes, improve performance, and support new hardware or integrationsIntegrate control systems with networked devices, DSP platforms, video distribution systems, and third-party technologiesDevelop scripts, utilities, or internal tools to improve programming workflows, monitoring, and engineering productivityPerform system testing, debugging, and validation to ensure reliable operationSupport field integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting effortsCreate technical documentation and provide guidance to field engineering and service teamsResearch emerging technologies and modern programming methods to improve AV system capability and efficiencyIdentify opportunities to apply software development practices to improve AV programming standards, automation, and internal toolsRequired QualificationsProven experience as an AV Programmer or in a similar roleBachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred3+ years of audiovisual-specific programming experienceStrong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and Agile methodologiesAdvanced knowledge of modern programming languages and frameworksPreferred: C#, .NET, Python, JavaScriptPlus: C++, Java, Lua, or other scripting languagesUnderstanding of advanced data structures and design patternsExperience with asynchronous and multithreaded programmingExperience with both functional and object-oriented programming paradigmsExperience working with relational and non-relational databases (SQL, MongoDB)Knowledge of back-end web frameworks such as Flask or DjangoStrong experience working with APIs, including RESTful and WebSocket servicesAbility to read and interface with published hardware and software APIsExperience working with Linux-based systemsStrong familiarity with version control systems such as Git or BitbucketExcellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skillsAbility to manage workload independently and meet project deadlinesPreferred CertificationsCrestron Masters CertificationAVIXA CTS, CTS-I, or CTS-DJob Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Boston, MA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
