The work directly enables faster, more informed decision-making in high-consequence environments.Role OverviewWe are seeking a Software Engineer or Principal Software Engineer to contribute across the full software development lifecycle. The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced Agile environment to deliver high-quality, sustainable solutions. This role involves solving complex problems, working closely with fellow engineers, and regularly demonstrating progress to end users.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, and maintain software solutions supporting DSS mission objectivesWork independently and collaboratively as part of an Agile development teamDeliver high-quality software on schedule while meeting mission prioritiesSolve complex technical challenges through innovative and practical solutionsCollaborate with software designers and engineers on system planning and architectureParticipate in integration and unit testing to ensure software reliabilityProvide regular demonstrations and updates to customers and stakeholdersRequired Skills & ExperienceStrong object-oriented software development experience in JavaExperience working in Agile development environmentsHands-on experience with software testing, including integration and unit testingProven technical problem-solving skillsExperience as a full-stack software developerWorking knowledge of Linux operating systemsFamiliarity with relational databases (Oracle/PDBs) and SQLAbility to prioritize tasks and adapt to evolving mission needsAbility to work full time on-site in Bellevue, NEEducation & Experience RequirementsHigh school diploma with 6+ years of software development experience, orBachelor of Science degree in a STEM field with 2+ years of experience, orMaster of Science degree in a STEM field with 0+ years of experienceSecurity ClearanceAbility to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance (clearance sponsorship available)Candidates with an active Secret clearance will be prioritizedNice-to-Have / Preferred QualificationsActive Secret clearanceDevOps / DevSecOps experienceCI/CD pipeline experienceExperience with KubernetesJenkins build and automation experienceFamiliarity with software security toolsExperience with enterprise databasesExperience using IDEs and configuration management tools such as BitBucketWhy This RoleDirect impact on mission-critical national defense systemsClearance sponsorship availableLong-term program stabilityStrong work-life balance-work stays on siteOpportunity to contribute to high-visibility, high-impact systems that support real-time operational decision-makingWork EnvironmentFull-time, on-site work at a Northrop Grumman facility in Bellevue, NEJob Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Bellevue, NE.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
