AI Engineer / Technical Development Lead

Unison Systems is seeking an AI Engineer / Technical Development Lead to join our client's team in Denver Tech Center (DTC).This is a contract-to-hire position, onsite 4 days per week. H1 visa sponsorship will be considered. This is a senior-level role offering competitive compensation for a leader who will architect and deploy production AI systems while mentoring a team of engineers.Responsibilities:Lead and mentor AI/ML engineers while establishing technical strategy and best practicesArchitect, build, and deploy LLM- and ML-powered systems into production environmentsDevelop and optimize RAG pipelines, evaluation strategies, and agentic workflowsPartner with Product, Engineering, Data, and Operations teams to deliver measurable business impactConduct code reviews, lead technical design sessions, and create documentation to promote engineering excellenceBuild reliable, scalable, and responsible AI systems that meet enterprise-grade standardsRequirements:8+ years of software engineering or technical leadership experience2+ years of hands-on LLM experience including fine-tuning, RAG, prompt engineering, and agentic workflows5+ years of ML/Data Science background with proven production deploymentsDemonstrated ability to mentor engineers, build high-performing teams, and lead architectural decisionsStrong communication skills and ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersDeep expertise in Python and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)Production experience with MLOps tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, Vertex AI, or SageMakerProficiency with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelinesExperience with data pipeline tools (Airflow, Prefect, Spark, Ray) and vector storesFamiliarity with cloud architecture, API design, and microservices patternsUnison Systems is Colorado's leading IT staffing and engineering consulting firm - apply today and let us put our 27 years of expertise to work for you.
