Software Test Engineer - Software Innovation Lab Location: Sterling Heights, MI | Shift: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM | Clearance: Secret (Ability to Obtain) Company: Indotronix About the Role Join Indotronix as a Software Test Engineer and play a pivotal role in advancing software integration and testing for cutting-edge hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments. Be part of a collaborative engineering team where your technical expertise drives the development and reliability of next-generation defense and simulation systems. Responsibilities - Design, integrate, and maintain advanced software and hardware test environmentsSupport, troubleshoot, and enhance HIL systems, simulation platforms, and electro-mechanical test setupsConfigure and validate communication interfaces for devices and simulation hardwareDiagnose and resolve system-level integration and networking issuesAnalyze system logs to identify and address faultsFabricate, repair, and maintain cables, harnesses, and related hardwareCollaborate with on-site and remote engineering teams to deliver seamless integration and testingPlan, execute, and document system-level test activities Required Skills and Experience - Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline2+ years of engineering experience working with software/hardware integrationHands-on experience with HIL systems and simulation toolsProficiency with Linux and Windows, including shell scripting and PowerShellAbility to analyze logs using Event Viewer, syslog, or dmesgStrong knowledge of networking fundamentals (VLANs, switch setup)Experience with serial communication protocols (RS-232/422/485, CAN, Ethernet)Skilled in circuit debugging using multimetersExperience troubleshooting cables, harnesses, and electro-mechanical systems Preferred Skills - Degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical EngineeringFamiliarity with NI TestStand or real-time simulation workflowsExperience with Wireshark or tcpdump for network analysisBasic C/C++ programming skillsUnderstanding of additional communication protocols (CAN, LIN, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429)Knowledge of Ethernet standards, QoS, VLAN taggingExperience with virtualization, storage, and lab/datacenter infrastructureBackground in system-level test execution and reporting Benefits - Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits packageDynamic, hands-on work environment promoting career growthOpportunity to work on innovative defense and simulation projectsCollaborative, supportive team cultureTraining and professional development opportunities How to Apply Ready to take your engineering career to the next level?
