SUNY Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY is currently recruiting for a Auto Tech-Heavy Equipment Mechanic FT Tenure Track FacultyThe Automotive Technology Department has a full-time tenure track faculty position open.Major responsibilities of this position include college-level teaching of Automotive and Heavy Equipment Repair Technology lecture courses and laboratory activities. Content areas such as Vehicle Electrical Systems, schematics & diagnostics, Suspension Systems including active suspension, air ride repair and diagnosis, Braking Systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, Engine and Transmission operation with diagnosis and repair. ASE Certified Technicians are an Industry standard. All courses use ASE standards for material and testing. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, curriculum development, participation on committees, and collaboration with colleagues to assess student learning outcomes.The successful candidate will be qualified to teach several of the following classes and labs:ATC/CHQ 103 Automotive FundamentalsATC/CHQ 104 Automotive Braking SystemsATC/CHQ 116 Automotive Electrical SystemsATC 202 Vehicle Suspension SystemsATC/CHQ271 Vehicle HVACATC 205 Automotive DrivelineATC 141 Engine RepairATC 243 Engine PerformanceATC 141 Fuels & IgnitionOther Heavy Equipment CoursesMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Be responsive to student questions and available for student support;Use appropriate technology to enhance learning;Assess learning outcomes and adapt curriculum to meet learning objectives;Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education;Provide appropriate academic advising to students to support timely degree completion;Be innovative in the presentation of lectures and hands-on learning activities that achieve learning outcomes;Provide timely feedback on students' assignments and exams throughout each semester; and,Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College, including timely submission of grades and other required materials.NoUSD $53,045.00/Yr.USD $59,676.00/Yr.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Appointment at the Rank of Instructor:Associate Degree in Automotive Technology or related field and industry-recognized certifications, with at least 10 years of industry-related experience; orAutomotive industry experience, industry-recognized training, and industry-recognized certifications, with at least 20 years of industry-related experience.Appointment at the Rank of Assistant Professor:Associate Degree in Automotive Technology and industry-recognized certifications, with at least 10 years of industry-related experience; orAutomotive industry experience, industry-recognized training, and industry-recognized certifications, with at least 20 years of industry-related experience.Related Fields:AutomotiveCommercial/Heavy EquipmentElectricalMechanicalSystem EngineeringTechnology Education(CTE, Vocational, etc.)Preferred Qualifications:Background in teaching college level coursesDemonstrated connections with local industryBilingual in English and Spanish.
