Job Responsibilities: The Groundskeeping Technician II performs all work related to maintaining lawns, trees, shrubs, flowered areas, roads, walks, campus playing fields, etc. Primary duties involve the maintenance and repair of all exterior grounds including daily pickup of trash from all campus areas. Other duties are seasonal in nature. They include but are not limited to the following: u2022 Mows and waters lawns u2022 Make necessary turf repairs u2022 Clears snow, salts campus roadways and sidewalks u2022 Applies seed, fertilizers and pesticides in accordance with the Universityu2019s integrated pest management program u2022 Prunes trees and shrubs u2022 Prepares athletic fields for use, setting up nets, moving bleachers, marking fields, etc. u2022 Stores summer and fall equipment u2022 Cleans and repairs equipment as necessary u2022 Cleanup of fall leaves, spring and year round debris u2022 Replaces and repairs damaged signs u2022 Maintains flower areas by planting bulbs and flowers u2022 Weeds as needed u2022 Cleans equipment after use u2022 Properly stores equipment and tools at the end of each work day u2022 Installs, repairs and maintains irrigation systems Education / Experience: High School diploma and minimum of three yearsu2019 experience in landscaping/grounds maintenance. Horticultural certificate and New York State Pesticide certification preferred. Must have valid NYS driveru2019s license. Competencies / Skills: Good knowledge of grounds maintenance procedures and practices. Working knowledge of plant care and landscaping principles. Ability to safely operate all hand, power and motorized grounds tools and equipment. Supervision of Employees: Provides direction to new employees, work-study students and part-time employees Work Hours: Full-time, Monday u2013 Friday 7:00am u2013 3:30pm Overtime and weekends as needed for sporting and special events and snowplowing.
