Archaeological Field Technician

Snyder & Associates has an immediate opening for an Archaeological Field Technician. The archaeology field technician performs a variety of archaeological field survey tasks under the supervision of a senior archaeologist.Projects, both local and non-local, will be mobilized from our Ankeny office and include the following responsibilities:Conduct field surveys in accordance with federal, state, and company standardsCarry out shovel testing, excavation, and comprehensive site documentation.Accurately identify historic and prehistoric artifacts and features.Assist with artifact identification, labeling, and catalogingRecord accurate and detailed field notes, including maps, photographs, and standardized formsParticipate in GPS data collection in the field under the supervision of Project ArchaeologistPerforming other duties as assigned or required.Required:Archaeological field school or prior archaeological field survey experience.Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain.Ability to work weekends and over 40 hours per week when needed.Working knowledge of archaeological survey protocols.Ability to work in the field for extended periods of time.B.A. in Anthropology, Archaeology or related field will be advantageous.Snyder & Associates, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
