Don't worry, you can still find yourself in the game!The RoleProvide legal advice and counsel to USTA business unitsProvide strategic and legal advice and support for all initiatives relating to USTA’s administrative and business units and the USTA Foundation. Responsibilities include reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide variety of legal documents and agreements, reviewing collateral and copy, crafting policies, research, assisting with legal aspects of corporate compliance and policy matters, corporate governance, application of rules, regulations and grievances, not-for profit law, litigation, troubleshooting a wide variety of legal issues as they arise, and special projects, etc.Contribute to the governance, legal compliance and the cultivationofpositive relationships with the USTA’s BoardofDirectors, USTA Section relationships and Volunteer CommitteesEngage in extensive verbal and written communication with USTA clients (including advising all levels of USTA staff)Serve as a member of USTA Legal Department team providing regular interaction, counsel and legal support as neededManage outside counsel as necessaryKeep current on industry-wide legal trends and developments to counsel business units and manage legal exposure proactivelyOther such related duties as may be requiredOccasional visits to other USTA offices in the metropolitan New York City area as well as the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. May be asked to attend the following: US Open and other USTA-related meetings away from the metropolitan New York City area throughout the year.Who You Are4-7 years of applicable law practice experience; some in-house experience high preferred.Member New York State Bar or ability to obtain NYC Bar in-house counsel registration Excellent drafting/writing and research abilityStrong communications and interpersonal skillsMust thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environmentSelf-starter and independent worker, with sound decision-making abilities, significant attention to detailBusiness acumen with forward thinking, innovative mindsetAbility to effectively respond to inquiries for customers and business communityAbility to effectively manage outside counselThis position is designated as 'hybrid/flex' in Purchase, New York or New York City.What We OfferAt the USTA, we know people are our most important asset. Any additional pay or benefits a person may qualify for, are not included in this range.
