Ballard is an amazing place to work and if what weu2019ve said resonates with you, you just might be right for us Job Summary: The job will consist of new construction or restoration on docks, boathouses, seawalls, retaining walls, boatlifts, decks, set piling, boardwalks, and dune walkovers for commercial, residential marine, and shoreline projects. Education: u00b7 High school diploma or equivalent. u00b7 Valid Driveru2019s License with current driving record free from serious or frequent violation. u00b7 Experience working with all types of woodworking equipment. Experience: u00b7 3+ yearsu2019 experience as a marine construction worker familiar will form work, pouring concrete and pile driving operations. u00b7 Experience with the installation of sheet piles, prestressed concrete piles, tubular steel piles and H-Piles u00b7 Experience with the construction of bridges, walkways, piers, boat ramps, seawalls, docks, wharfs, and jetties u00b7 Experience working with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel with the capability to learn new computer software including tablet-based safety programs and job/project reporting. Skills: u00b7 Committed to contributing to a culture of safety, looking out for yourself and others. u00b7 Ability to cut and weld steel, using underwater welding / burning equipment, jigs, and supports. u00b7 Must be a highly reliable individual with good organizational skills and be able to work unsupervised. u00b7 Great interpersonal and communications skills to effectively lead a crew and interact with customers. Responsibilities: u00b7 Conduct marine construction tasks under the direction of a crew leader u00b7 Shapes, cuts, drills, handles, and erect heavy treated timber caps, clamps, stringers, decking, etc. u00b7 Installs various concrete form ties and accessories. Assists with reinforcement, grading, and other related tasks for concrete placement and removal. u00b7 Safely operates power saws, grinders, roto hammers, power drills, Hilti guns, burning torches, impact wrenches, table saws, chains, and cable jacks. u00b7 Performs layout accurately, using a rule, framing square, plumb bob, and level. u00b7 Rigs property to move from one place/position to another. u00b7 Signal and safely place heavy loads with crane assistance or other specialized lifting devices. u00b7 Additional duties as assigned. Physical Demands / Working Environment: u00b7 Performs physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. u00b7 Moves heavy objects (94 lbs. or more) short distances (20u2019 of less). u00b7 Moves light objects (less than 94 lbs.) long distances (more than 20u2019). u00b7 Works in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements. u00b7 Lifts arms above shoulder level (i.e. lifts items into a truck or overhead area). u00b7 Climbs ladders or steps to reach objects. u00b7 Works at heights of up to 50u2019 or more. u00b7 Works in confined or enclosed spaces. u00b7 Sits or stands for long periods of time. u00b7 Wears a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed boots, and other applicable PPE. u00b7 Walks moderated distances to reach work area (1/2 mile or more). u00b7 Sits in the operatoru2019s seat of equipment and reaches all pedals, switches, levers, buttons, etc., required to safely operate the equipment. u00b7 Sits in the operatoru2019s seat of equipment and has an adequate field of vision of all instruments, gauges, warning lights, as well as an acceptable field of vision out of the windows/mirrors. u00b7 Adequate hearing, enough to receive and understand instructions, be alerted by horns, sirens, shouting, or any other noise that is meant to convey a safety warning.
