Head Swim CoachUnder the guidance of the Aquatics Director, the Head Swim Coach will assist in instruction and coaching of the swim team in accordance with the YMCA of San Diego County and/or USA Swimming standards.For more on Employee Perks, click on this link: Employee Benefits | YMCA of San Diego County (ymcasd.org)Schedule:Part-Time - Must be available Mon-Thu from 3:30pm-7:30pmPrepare swim team area for workoutConduct appropriate stretching and warm-up/cool-down activitiesMaintain safety and discipline during workouts and meetsSchedule and host team swim meetsRespond to the individual needs of participantsAssist in providing a variety of demonstration, explanation, and practice and skill correction during each workoutAssist in effective communication with athletes and parents in a friendly manner and providing appropriate encouragement Participate in YMCA eventsAttend staff and aquatics’ trainingsSupervise swim coachesVisual and auditory ability to critical incidents, and the physical ability to act swiftly in emergency situationsAbility to adequately observe participant’s activities, enforce safety regulations, and apply appropriate policies and proceduresOther duties as assigned needs to be included to all rolesMinimum age of 18 years of ageAt least three (3) year coaching experience requiredTwo (2) years’ experience competitive swimmingCurrent CPR PRO/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification and must be from one of the following certifying organization: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health InstituteCurrent First Aid certification and must be from one of the following certifying organization: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health InstituteMust have one of the following:Safety Training for Swim Coaches Online Content Only certification & Safety Training for Swim Coaches In Water Session certification ORSafety Training for Swim Coaches (final certification if an ARC certification trainer upload requirements it for a final version) ORSafety Training for Swim Coaches Online Content Only certification & valid Lifeguard certificationPrinciples of Competitive Swimming & Diving within 30 daysYMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard certification (will be required if supervising off-site events) desirableYMCA or WSI Swim Lesson certification desirableSafety training for Swim Coaches desirableYMCA Swim Lesson Instructor (YSL) Certification desirableFamiliarity with Meet Manager and Team Manager software desirable YMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act.
