As aProject Environmental Scientist, you will join ourWetlands and Ecology Team in our Westwood office, where you’ll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast. Working with industry experts, you’ll tackle complex challenges that strengthen community resilience and advance environmental sustainability. At Tighe & Bond, you’ll find an engaging, hybrid work environment, a culture of collaboration, and the resources to support your professional growth and development.Our Wetlands and Ecology Team and Projects Our Environmental Services team, composed of experienced professionals, provides comprehensive environmental permitting, planning, and compliance monitoring services across a range of projects. Our technical experts specialize in freshwater and coastal wetland delineations, environmental impact assessments, and wildlife and fishery habitat evaluations. We lead initiatives in climate change resiliency, wetland and ecological restoration, dam removal, and streambank stabilization. Our work also includes rare species permitting, all aimed at ensuring sustainable development and environmental stewardship for our clients.What You’ll Be DoingAs a valuable part of ourWetlands and Ecology, aProject Environmental Scientist will lead and support a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience with responsibilities such as:Perform a combination of field work, technical report preparation, and studiesPerform natural resource surveys including wetland delineations and functional assessments, wildlife habitat evaluations and rare species surveys, including soil characterization and plant species identificationCoordinate with field teams performing ecological and wetlands surveys and construction inspectionsCoordinate with client and project teams while planning projects and developing local, state and federal permit applicationsPresent project permit applications to local Conservation CommissionsWhat You’ll NeedAt least 5 years of experience working in environmental consulting or a similar fieldA Bachelor's degree in an environmental or natural sciences field with coursework in ecology, hydrology, botany, and soilsDemonstrated experience with wetlands permitting at the federal, state, and local levelTechnical writing and presentation skillsYou should like being outside, and have the willingness to work in physically challenging outdoor situations in all types of weather and traveling on an as-needed basis to project sitesDemonstrated experience with federal and state laws such as the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and Regulations, US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), and other state/local agenciesExperience in a range of activities such as biological and wetland surveys; federal, state and local wetland regulations; Endangered Species Act compliance; and Clean Water Act Section 404/401 permittingValid driver’s license, good driving record, and your own transportationPreferred RequirementsExperience with conducting wetland delineationsCertification such as Certified Professional Soil Scientist (CPSS), Associate Professional Soil Scientist (APSS), Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS), or Certified Wildlife Biologist (CWB)Other certifications including Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) or other stormwater inspector certificationYour Financial and Wellness BenefitsCompensation is based on skills and experience as reflected in the pay range belowAnnual Bonus, Profit Sharing, and Employee Stock Ownership PlanBest in Class Medical InsuranceDental & Vision InsuranceWellness Rewards and ReimbursementsTuition Reimbursement and Qualified Student Loan Paydown ContributionsReimbursements for Licensure/ Certification Preparation and FeesSummer Fridays Flextime and Hybrid Work EnvironmentPet Insurance and Adoption AssistanceWays to Grow Your CareerWe provide a structured career path with opportunities for professional development through tuition reimbursement, internal training, conference attendance, and professional memberships.
