As a Transportation Field Technician for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. Projects may range from bridge rehabilitation, bridge construction, roadway construction, grade/drain/pave, highway lighting, and highway signing.Responsibilities:Perform construction observation and documentationPerform field testing of soils, concrete and asphalt to determine project complianceInteract with construction site personnel, engineers, and state and federal representatives while presenting yourself in a professional mannerDriving and maintaining the appearance and operation of company vehicles to and from job sitesDaily report writing, project plan/specification interpretation, and entering data into required web based applicationsCommunication with owners project supervisors and contractor personnel while on-siteWV TRET Certification Level 1-5 requiredMinimum 1-3 years Field experience working in the construction industry with emphasis on roadway construction or heavy civil engineering projects.Perform field tests using specialized equipment designed to collect data from various construction material, i.e,; nuclear density gauge, penetrometer, and hand tools. You will be required to keep equipment clean and in good working order.Minimum of high school educationAbility to interpret project plans and specificationsStrong computer skills using Microsoft office and Adobe AcrobatAbility to write accurate and concise field reports.CEC Charleston is part of our West Virginia operations, which also includes offices in Bridgeport and Martinsburg.
