The Opportunity: As a Hydrographic Sr. Surveyor, for our Offshore Energy Division you will lead a team of surveyors in conducting detailed surveys of underwater environments. Your primary goal is to ensure the accurate collection, analysis, and interpretation of data related to the physical features of bodies of water to support safe navigation, marine construction, and environmental protection.About the Company:Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation is the largest provider of dredging services in the United States. The Company’s commitment to the IIF? culture promotes a work environment where employee safety is paramount.Duties and Responsibilities:Conduct pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, resident engineers, and contractor representativesProvide technical advice on hydrographic matters to clients and stakeholdersPlan survey operations to take account of vessel(s) operational and environmental capabilities and limitationsA full appreciation of the survey deliverables is required so that on completion of a project, all data will be backed up and submitted to the Project Manager/Onshore team in the agreed formatsUtilize specialized equipment such as multi-beam echo sounders and GPS systems to collect accurate dataSupervise survey operations always ensuring safe working practices and with due regard to contract requirements, scope of work, procedures, and regulationsEffectively communicate with Vessel Management Team, Bridge Team, and client representatives offshoreCompile operational/field reporting in a concise manner and in accordance with project procedures, client specifications and company proceduresMaintain efficient stock controlEffectively address vessel operation and management issuesStatutory regulations affecting radio frequencies and expertise to ensure compliance with such regulations.Data acquisition, processing, presentation, and management systemsKeep the team working and living together in harmony.Implement and develop company emergency procedures.Implement hazard identification and risk assessment control measures.Additional duties as assignedRequirements:A bachelors degree in engineering, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.Relevant industry experience or military/academic experience in survey related discipline, including relevant management experienceSatisfactory completion of competence criteria for Senior Surveyor, Senior Survey Engineer, Senior Geophysicist or Senior Data ProcessorNominally 48 months experience, including 300 operational days offshore as Senior Surveyor, Senior Survey Engineer, Senior Geophysicist or Senior Data ProcessorProficiency with Microsoft Excel is essentialMust have or be able to obtain all industry required certificates to work offshoreMust be able to obtain a valid passport and/or visas to travel internationally in countries the company operates in.Benefits:Competitive salary and bonus program401(k) program that includes 100% company matching of the first 6% of employee contributions with immediate vesting.Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).Annual profit-sharing contributions by the company to participants’ 401(k) accounts based on company’s annual performance.Medical, Dental, Prescription, Life and Disability insurance plans.Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
