Hours of Work : 8am-4:30pm Days Of Week : M-F Work Shift : Job Description : Your Job: Professional nursing position for an individual with advanced skills, providing specialized nursing care with the primary emphasis on the treatment of individuals with end-stage organ disease that are designated to have a solid organ transplant. This role will also provide continuity and coordination of patient care, conduct patient and professional education initiatives, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, community resources, and agencies. Your Job Requirements: u2022 Bachelor of Science Nursing u2022 Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas u2013 REQUIRED u2022 Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support certification u2013 REQUIRED u2022 Specialty certification (CCRD, CCTC)- Preferred u2022 Proficient with technical office equipment including computers, printers, fax, copiers, and telephones u2022 Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in transplant, renal, or end-stage organ disease preferred Your Job Responsibilities: u2022 Coordinates the pre-transplant evaluation process and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to ensure timely completion u2022 Participates in the patient selection committee u2022 Assures patient is listed with appropriate MELD score and method of contact during the waiting period is clearly established u2022 Obtains labs and other clinical data required to maintain patients appropriate MELD u2022 Updates pre-transplant charts while waiting on the list at least annually u2022 Coordinates transplant admission process when organ offers are made for the potential recipient and back up recipients u2022 Communicates with third-party payers regarding transplant procedures and provides medical necessity documentation as required u2022 Coordinates and participates in the patient/ family education pre-transplant and maintains proper documentation u2022 Triages patient and/or donor calls based on transplant population needs u2022 Maintain data in the database and on flowsheets u2022 Data entry as required for database maintenance and patient management u2022 Maintains oversite required regulatory reporting including UNOS/HCFA/TIEDI, collaborative transplant study and tumor registry u2022 Coordinates and participates in the patient/ family education post-transplant and maintains proper documentation u2022 Monitors post-transplant patient clinical data and assures data is reviewed by a physician as required u2022 Communicates with patient and referring/primary physicians regarding changes in medications and other clinical management u2022 Conducts self as a professional, clinical expert in the area of practice, thus providing a role model for others u2022 Participates in educational programs sponsored by the Medical Center and those sponsored by outside agencies u2022 Consults with the staff of other units where transplant patient is housed Methodist Dallas Medical Center is one of North Texasu2019 best places to work.
