Featuring one of the best views oncampus, an art-filled bridge connects the historic Elvehjem building,built in 1970, with the Chazen building, built in 2011. With a permanentcollection of more than 25,000 objects, from vessels of ancient Greeceto prints by Kara Walker, the Chazen is one of the largest museums inthe state of Wisconsin. Two expansive buildings encompass 163,000+square feet, making it an integral cultural force within the Big Ten.More than 180,000 visitors come through the Chazen's doors each year toenjoy the permanent collection and special exhibitions. Admission isfree for all and includes programs for students, families and communitymembers, all provided with the museum's unique brand of Wisconsinhospitality. The Museum Guide actively supports community and publiclearning within the Chazen's newly restructured Engagement division.Reporting to the Chief Engagement Officer, and working as part of acohort of educators that include both professional and student staff,the Museum Guide develops and leads participatory tours of the Chazen'sspecial exhibitions and permanent collection galleries. The Museum Guideis responsible for leading and co-leading a mixture of K-12 fieldtrips,University and community group visits, and drop-in public tours of themuseum. Additionally, the Museum Guide will conceptualize, research, andexecute new tour and arts activities. The Museum Guide will meaningfullyparticipate in bi-weekly education team meetings and monthly Engagementdivision meetings.
