As a Medical Assistant -- Occupational Health, you will have the opportunity to support the onboarding of new caregivers and address ongoing health needs for existing caregivers. In this role, you'll be responsible for drawing blood and working alongside a team of occupational health professionals, including Nurses and Patient Service Specialists.This is the ideal role for an individual who provides care with empathy and confidentiality and is aligned with our values of quality, safety and teamwork. In this role, you'll benefit from working closely with a leader who is focused on caregiver health and development.A caregiver in this position works rotating four-hour shifts on Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. after orientation. Please note caregivers must be able to attend orientation at the Garfield location and work 5 shifts over a 10-day period. Caregiver may choose the frequency of shifts worked within the 10-day period (i.e. 2 days one week, 3 days the following week.)A caregiver who excels in this role will: Utilize medical and administrative skills to support patients and caregivers. Assist with performing assessments and treatments. Gather and update information related to health maintenance and specimen collection. Document patient care. Identify medication changes and update allergies at each visit. Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition. Administer specific medications under the direction of a physician. Maintain exam rooms, equipment and medical supplies. Assist in pre-visit planning and updating health maintenance tabs. Complete filing, reception duties, scheduling, data entry and patient registration. Travel to other Cleveland Clinic locations as needed. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate of an approved Medical Assisting ProgramMilitary training as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) consideredDemonstrated clinical proficiencyCompletion of a clinical externship or extensive clinical experienceBasic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within new hire periodPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Medical Assistant (MA) CertificationSuccessful completion of a CC ExternshipOur caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
