The Paralegal I - Litigation is an integral part of Latham’s Legal Professional and Paralegal team and will be responsible for performing legal tasks and providing various administrative support to attorneys and other supervising paralegals, while coordinating the work of support departments, attorney support team members, and junior paralegals to retrieve, assemble, and organize documents for review by supervisors. This role will be located in our Los Angeles, San Diego or Orange Countyoffice. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.Other key responsibilities include:Coordinating and assisting in the discovery process including gathering, reviewing, and analyzing documents for production, with guidance of an attorney or senior paralegal, and managing and utilizing e-discovery platforms.Assistingwith the preparation of legal documents including pleadings, motions, and exhibits, discovery requests/responses, and correspondence in accordance with court rules and deadlinesAssistingin preparing witnesses for deposition, internal client investigations, and assisting attorneys with client interviews by assembling witness binders, containing interview memos, digests, and relevant documentsConducting basic searches and creating reports in databases or other document repositoriesMaintaining the integrity of the case or transactional documents generated throughout the duration of a case or transactionCompleting special projects on various issues as assignedProtecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retainsWe’d love to hear from you if you:Display proficient knowledge of applications typically used in a legal office environment, such as billing software and databases, and internet searching skillsDemonstrate knowledge of MS Office applications, specifically MS Word, MS Excel, and MS OutlookPossess well-developed and professional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firmAnd have:A bachelor's degree (and a signed declaration if located in a California office), or a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved programA minimum of one (1) year of experience in a law firm or other legeal setting required, preferably as a paralegalSuccessful candidates will not only be provided with an outstanding career opportunity and welcoming environment, but will also be provided with a generous total compensation package with bonuses awarded in recognition of both individual and firm performance.
