CVP is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Hospitalists to join our team in providing our Nation's Veterans with quality care at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center located at 1 Medical Center Dr, Clarksburg, WV 26301. This is a 6-month locum tenens position with the potential for a 6-month extension.Provide on-site Hospital Medicine physician services for inpatients at the Louis A. Johnson VAMCAdmit and coordinate all aspects of care for hospitalized medical patients including history and physical examinationsDetermine appropriate placement within the hospitalEvaluate and treat patients, including ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies such as laboratory, diagnostic imaging, and electrocardiographic examinationsAdminister appropriate medications within the scope of hospital medicine practiceDiscuss end-of-life preferences and advanced care planning with patientsConsult with sub-specialists as neededConduct timely and proactive discharge planningCoordinate care with patients' primary care physiciansEnsure appropriate follow-up is arranged at dischargeProvide perioperative care as neededProvide care to patients in critical/acute care settings in conformance with VA policiesAssess, stabilize, and determine disposition of inpatients with emergent conditionsRun code teams and rapid response teams when necessaryPerform procedures as needed and privileged, including but not limited to: abscess incision and drainage, thoracentesis, nasogastric tube insertion, paracentesis, lumbar puncture, and ACLS proceduresReview all admissions to inpatient hospital care recommended by Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner providersProvide comprehensive person-to-person hand-off/hand-over from the admitting Provider to a responsible member of the admitting teamParticipate in quality improvement activities and meetings as requiredAttend monthly staff meetingsDocument patient care in the VA electronic health record (CPRS) in a timely mannerReport any patient safety incidents within 24 hours following VA proceduresDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institutionBoard Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of ColumbiaNational Provider Identifier (NPI) requiredCurrent certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)Current DEA certificationAbility to obtain VA credentialing and privileging prior to start dateMinimum of one (1) year of direct patient care experience within the last three (3) yearsExperience in hospital medicine preferred; VA experience a plusAbility to speak, understand, read, and write English fluentlyProficient in technical skills necessary to fulfill the government's requirementsStrong communication skills and ability to work in a team environmentWork Schedule:Full-time position (80 hours per week)12-hour shift schedule: 7:00 am to 7:00 pm or 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, Wednesday through Tuesday (exact schedule to be determined)6-month assignment (December 15, 2025 to June 14, 2026)LocationLouis A.
