CNC Machinist (Computer Numerical Control Machinist)

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE The CNC Machinist will have knowledge and experience u tilizing CNC Equipment. Machinists will be required to set tooling, set work holding, and program on the machine control to manufacture precision products to quality specifications defined by blueprints in an efficient manner. CNC Equipment utilized includes but is not limited to: 5-Axis Milling machines, Vertical Milling Machines, Horizontal Milling Machines, Lathes, Waterjet Machines, and Horizontal Saws. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES **** - Perform Set Ups and operation of 5-Axis or Multitask Live tooling machines. - Ability to use forethought and best machining practices to achieve optimal performance results within the allocated timeframe. - Experience with tight tolerance aerospace / defense and NPI machining with the ability to hold tolerances of +/- .0002. - Develop/follow job router, set-up sheet and work instructions and provide feedback to improve processes. - Maintain a positive attitude even during stressful situations. - Measure and document as required piece/parts inspection data to assure part compliance. Utilizing manual and automated inspection techniques. - Read and interpret blueprint dimensions, symbols, and notes. - Organize, clean, and maintain work area. Utilizing 5-S and other housekeeping techniques to maintain a safe/ clean workstation. - Communicate with Engineering on issues, needs, and improvements. - Build Fixtures to drawing requirements. - Set up, Prove-out and optimize processes to minimize cycle-time and increase probability of success while communicating and working with other departments i.e.) Sales, Engineering, Quality, and Deburring/Finishing - Train Machine Operators if/when job is turned over to production ensuring a safe and quality driven operation. - Ability to work independently and identify issues, and problem solve in a productive timeframe. - Maintains focus on process improvement and reduction of cycle times while maintaining quality. - Ability to work required schedule. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. - Proven experience of CNC operation (15 years). - 10+ or more years setting up and operating CNC 3, 4, and 5 axis mills, turning centers and multi-axis machines - Attention to detail - Excellent knowledge of machine and controller functions - Excellent knowledge of machine tolerances - Commanding knowledge of GDandT and applications - Excellent mechanical skills - Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints - Advanced mathematical and geometrical knowledge - Good communicator, ability to listen, ask questions, and provide solutions - Ability to work extra hours when needed - Self-Motivated - Positive attitude - Strong Work Ethic - Experience of general manufacturing processes and Lean Six Sigma Tools. - Experience in programming, machine setup and operation of CNC machines. - Experience in Esprit Cam preferred. - Excellent understanding and experience with CNC controllers (Fanuc, OSP, Siemens, etc) OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES Attendance is an essential job requirement defined as having regular, consistent, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance including the ability to work regular hours and shifts, overtime before and after shifts and on weekends.
