For more information, please visit our webpage at www.katzeneye.com.The Ophthalmic Technician will perform a range of duties which include preparing the patient to see Ophthalmologist and/or Optometrist and conduct preliminary exam and captures medical history. In addition, the preparation of examination and treatment rooms, performing basic and routine vision screening examinations, administering eye medications, cleaning, and maintaining ophthalmic instruments and assisting physicians during minor surgical and laser procedures may be required. Travel to other locations may also be necessary to support clinical needs.Make introductions and establish rapport with patientsInitiate patient evaluation, documenting the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, and all pertinent ocular findings accurately and in accordance with compliance guidelines.Perform pre-exam testing to include visual acuity assessment, including pinhole and glare testing, confrontational visual field testing, assess extra ocular muscles, pupillary evaluation, tonometry, assess angles, pupillary dilation, and all other patient services as requested by the physician including specialty tests such as color vision screening, stereopsis, and dry eye testingPerform lensometry and specialized testing such as visual fields, keratometry, A/B scans, and ophthalmic photography optical coherence tomography (OCT), and optical biometry Additional testing as requested by doctorPerform retinoscopy and refractometry. Assist with minor surgical procedures or laser treatments in the officeAssist with fitting contact lenses and instruct patients in care and insertion of lensesComplete requests for prescription refills as authorized by physician, with full documentation in patient's chartEducate patients regarding administration of medications and pre- and post-operative instructions as directed by physicianCheck temperature of medical refrigerator dailyMaintain and conduct inventory of medications and suppliesAssist with maintenance of clinical examination equipmentClean surgical instruments in preparation for sterile processingInspect instruments periodically for damage, send for repair, and request a replacement, as necessaryOpen and close exam lanes daily, ensuring that equipment is wiped down in an appropriate manner and as per office procedures, battery powered instruments are seated properly in re-charge wells, slit lamps and projectors are switched off under coversFollow all safety procedures as per guidelinesPrioritize building and maintaining a positive relationship with doctors and clinical colleaguesExecutes duties of position in a professional and courteous mannerHandles sensitive information in a confidential mannerPerform other tasks and duties as assignedHigh School diploma or equivalent requiredExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, staff, managers, and doctorsBasic computer literacy requiredHighly energetic with a positive attitudeMust be willing to travel to other offices occasionally to meet the demands of businessMust be able to walk and stand for eight hoursMust be able to type or write legibly in a dimly lit settingCertified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) preferred Certified Ophthalmic Scribe (OSC) preferredCertified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferredOne to two years’ experience in multi-specialty clinic preferredIn Turn We Will Provide:Benefits to full-time team members that include comprehensive medical, dental and optical coverage, 401k and short and long term disabilityCompany paid life insurancePaid holidays and generous paid time offPaid parking where applicableTeam oriented working environment where you are heard and respectedClear career ladder opportunitiesCompensation range for this position is $20.00 to $25.00 dependent upon experience#ESP2
