Instrument Tech - Certified Lead UnityPoint Health - Allen- Sterile ProcessingShift: Full-time; 3 PM - 1130 PM M-F; may include on-call shiftsBenefits EligiblePotential Sign-On Bonus Eligible: $5,000 paid over 1 yearUnder general supervision of the Sterile Processing leader, the Instrument Technician Certified Lead is responsible for coordination of day-to-day operations of the daily activities of the unit including overseeing the decontamination, assembly and sterilization process of all instruments, inventory of supplies, training of new staff members, and assisting with the coordination of maintenance and service of equipment as needed. Lead techs must demonstrate mastery of the Sterile Processing Technician role.At UnityPoint Health, you matter. Responsible for making daily staff assignments for assigned shift.Reports broken equipment, instruments, and patient safety issues to the management team immediately. Evaluates the out of service instruments appropriately and communicates appropriately to the SPD and OR Management. Assist with establishing and overseeing the coordination of instrument turnovers required for surgical cases.Is fully trained in all operational aspects of SPD and capable of assisting in the department as needed. Performs audits of sterilizer and quality assurance documentation.Inventories materials and supplies as needed to ensure adequate quantities are available for operations. May be asked to assume the responsibilities of the SPD leader during their absence. Sorting and arranging soiled surgical instruments and equipment for proper cleaning procedures.Performing cleaning and washing procedures to remove gross soil from surgical instruments and equipment for safe handling.Inspect surgical instruments and equipment for cleanliness and any broken pieces.Test the functionality of surgical instruments and equipment to ensure they are in proper working condition.Assemble surgical instrument sets accurately and according to department proceduresSterilize surgical instruments via multiple methods that include and are not limited to steam and vaporized hydrogen peroxide.Education:High school graduate or equivalentLicensure:CRCST or CSPDT required or obtained within 1 year of hireExperience:2+ year SPD experience preferred. Leadership or supervisory experience highly preferred.
