Position: Building Maintenance Technician Department: Public Works Reports To: Public Works Director Safety Sensitive: Yes FLSA Status: Full-time (Exempt) Salary: Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications Building Maintenance Technician Position Purpose: Allendale County is seeking a skilled and dependable Building Maintenance Technician to join the Public Works Department. This position will handle daily functions as assigned by the Public Works Director. These functions include but are not limited to upkeep, repair, and general maintenance of county buildings and infrastructure. Applicants should have a broad range of technical skills, with a preferred certification in air conditioning repair to support HVAC system maintenance and repair across county facilities. Responsibilities: Building Maintenance Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on county buildings and equipment. Diagnose and repair issues related to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC units. Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests and emergency repairs. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all work complies with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety and environmental regulations. Must attend departmental meetings and safety trainings. Additional Duties: Maintain maintenance records as required by the Pubic Works Director. Provide support across the Public Works Department, including but not limited to vehicle maintenance and landscaping. Serve as a back-up for other department personnel as needed. Must supervise and direct the work of inmate workers, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently. Preferred Qualifications: Certified HVAC Repair Technician preferred. Proficient in diagnosing and repairing HVAC systems, electrical wiring, plumbing, and general repairs. Ability to read and understand technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Minimum Qualifications: Must have a High School Diploma or GED. Valid South Carolina driver's license in good standing. Ability to work harmoniously within a team-oriented environment Physical Requirements Must be capable of performing physically demanding work for sustained periods of time. Must be able to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and work in physically awkward positions for extended periods. Must be capable of working outdoors in both hot and cold conditions for long periods.
