Performs an array of functions that includeverifying quantity, quality, and labeling of outgoing goods per customer order, ensuring that all customer orders have shipping labels and are packed to customer specs by performing the following duties:selecting and processing materials and cartonspicking and filling customer orders from multi-level rack warehouse storage systemsorganizing and retrieving stock in the warehouseSpecific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Handle routine needs that arise in the shipping departmentIdentify and maintain necessary equipment, tools, and suppliesInspect equipment, perform daily checklist, and communicate any deficiencies to supervision.Continually meet production efficiency levelsMaintain quality of work (Accuracy is key)Work independently and in a team environment willing to help in other departments and work overtime when necessary (flexibility is a must)Consistently work scheduled shifts and be on time in order to comply with company attendance policyESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:SHIPPINGPack orders according to customer’s shipping instructions, apply shipping labels, document carton count for outgoing LTL and Truckload customer shipmentsPrioritize orders based on customer’s expected ship dateCommunicate with department supervisor, crew leader, and office personnel, ensuring accurate and timely shipment of customer ordersWhen necessary, use a computer to pack customer orders utilizing SAP Warehouse ManagementScan each cartonWeigh each cartonApply Shipping labelsOperate manual pallet jack equipment to maneuver products within the warehouse in a safe and efficient mannerOTHERTrain new associates on the above shipping tasksSweep and maintain a clean and safe work environmentReport any unsafe work conditions that might occurOther duties as requiredSkills and Conditions of Employment:Prefer 1-year previous experience packing freightThe ability to work the 1st shift work schedule: currently Monday through Friday6:30AM to 3:00PM CT. This position requires schedule flexibility, as dictated by business demand and available resources including overtime at timesMust be 18 years or olderMust be able to pass required OSHA CERTIFIED Written TestMust be able to pass pre-employment basic aptitude driving testMust be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background checkLANGUAGE SKILLS:Must be able to communicate effectively with others.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to count accurately and efficientlyPHYSICALDEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
