This intern program will allow new associates to gain experience and build a foundation in one or more of the three major career areas: Preconstruction, Project Management, and Field Operations. Each individual’s experience is carefully curated for your individual growth and development and provides critical exposure to all facets of our business while creating a culture of cross training, understanding, and appreciation for all aspects of construction management.Role & Responsibilities: Below is a sample of what you could experience or be responsible for during your internship:•Preconstruction Focus:Learn how to “take off” project quantities and assemble project scopes for biddingManages the collection and analysis of data needed to estimate the time, materials, labor and cost required to construct a projectCombine historical data and current trends to create and present accurate estimatesSolicit the appropriate quantity of subcontractors in a timely manner, and know from experience how to choose the right subcontractors for the project (reference checking and networking).Review bid scope sheets, review subcontractor proposals for accuracy, and provide accurate quantity surveysUse Catamount’s “bid system” efficiently and correctly, and distribute addendums timely when necessaryHand off estimating projects to the Project Manager in a clear, precise, and timely manner•Project Management Focus:Assists in preparation of complete subcontract Scope of Work; understand contract documents and drawings to identify gaps in the documentsAssists Project Manager on maintaining the project schedule, purchasing schedule, submittals, change orders, RFIs, and documentation of project issuesAttend subcontractor meetings and OAC (Owner, Architect, Contractor) meetingsWorks with PMs and Superintendents to identify quality issues and communicate them accordingly; recognize underperforming subcontractors timely with project notifications.Assist in projecting and forecasting project costs•Field Operations Focus:Onsite during all work activities to ensure the job meets or exceeds client expectationsAssist the Superintendent on the creation and adherence to a well-planned 3-week schedule and schedule and coordinate subcontractors to perform their workEnsuring quality with tasks like maintaining a quality deficiency listChampion job-site safety by leading pre-task safety meetings with subcontractors, posting required notices, preparing reports, maintaining information, and documenting safety warningsSupport documentation in key areas such daily construction reports, T&M issues, RFI’s, and project photographySupport close-out duties such as project turnover matrix, maintaining as-built documents, developing and completing punch-lists Skills & QualificationsPursuing a Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in construction technology, building construction, civil engineering, business or related fieldStrong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skillsAbility to establish and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, contractors, and vendorsWhy you might love working here:Catamount has the “feel” of a small business while offering the resources of a large company.
