Production and Training: Collaborate with students, faculty, and guest artists to manage the planning, costing, and purchasing of scenic art elements for productions. Coordinate, participate in, and supervise students and staff in daily operations of the Paint Studio. Paint scenic elements, props, and projects as needed. Serve as Charge Artist for productions as assigned, including providing materials and labor estimates for designs. Attend production meetings and technical rehearsals as needed. Demonstrate effective communication. Develop scenic finish samples and prototypes. Train and work alongside student scenic artists to execute approved techniques. Manage time and material budgets for projects.Operation and Planning: Delegate and supervise painting, finishing, maintenance, and planning tasks to students and employees in the Fabrication Studios. Maintain scenic art equipment including brushes, sprayers, and projectors. Safely load and drive university vehicles. Administer storage, lending, rental, and return of production backdrop inventory. Coordinate hazardous materials inventory, storage, and disposal for Fabrication Studios. Assist Fabrication Studios general operations such as purchasing and administrative tasks.Learning, Mentorship, and Outreach: Foster a sustainable work culture defined by proficiency, safety, excellence, and creative problem-solving. Mentor and advise students and staff Assistant Charge Artists as needed. Propose, plan, and participate in course residencies, guest lectures, workshops, and tours. Investigate, assess, and participate in professional development opportunities and share or implement new learning within the Fabrication Studios. Support an efficient, collaborative professional learning environment.Perform other duties as assigned. Opportunities to serve as a props manager on productions may be available to qualified candidates.
