Amazon Web Services is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to become part of a global engineering team, responsible for the implementation and technical evaluation of our designs and the continuous innovation of our rapidly expanding data center footprint. As an electrical engineer at Amazon, you will be working with other internal groups as well as external groups including utilities, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors. As an Engineer in this role, you will work with the Principals and Senior Electrical Engineers to drive the standardization of designs across the global region in production data centers and resolve open technical issues in the electrical space. You will participate in the research and development of new technologies and designs applicable to our products or services. Relied on as a subject matter expert in the electrical engineering field, you write technical documentation for such projects. You also get to TRAVEL International support will be part of the job, and some international travel will be necessary and should be no more than 30%. Your tasks include conceiving, initiating and leading projects with widespread impact on infrastructure design, innovation and implementation. You will achieve this by breaking down complex problems into straightforward and actionable solutions. This will be achieved by working with internal teams to understand user requirements and challenges as well as collaborating with teams or individuals from other disciplines, cultures and countries. You will escalate issues as required and communicate clearly and effectively at the appropriate level of detail with people from a wide range of technical abilities and backgrounds. Part of the role will also include the review and approval of critical equipment submittals including vendor Witness Tests, provide technical support on global Large Scale Events (LSEu2019s), including participation on deep dives, investigations and recommendations on mitigation plans. You will also be expected to maintain and host technical electrical forums to provide a collaborative environment for development of datacenter electrical systems. As well as provide support and mentorship for the whole of the DCC engineering community, all while having fun and offering creative, out of the box solutions. In depth understanding of critical data center electrical equipment. u2022 In-depth understanding of critical data center electrical equipment. Controls experience and in-depth controls knowledge. Experience managing supplier relationships in construction projects u2022 Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities. Ability to carry new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment/construction. Familiarity with medium voltage distribution systems design. Detailed understanding of uninterruptable power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, and automatic/static transfer switches. u2022 Direct experience with the construction, operation, or maintenance of data centers as well as basic understanding of mechanical equipment and system design. Experience with fast track design/build projects and or multiple significant upgrade project for large-scale technical operations or large-scale compute farms. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market.
