Job Summary and Qualifications RN PT Resource Float Pool Medical Surgical Service Line Nights 7p-7a Rotating Weekends u00b7 Surgical 35 bed unit u00b7 Cares for a variety of pre and post-surgical patients to include o Orthopedics (hips and knees) o Colorectal and Rectal (all cases) o Gynecological o General (laparoscopic cholecystectomies, laparoscopic appendectomy, I&D, hernia repairs) o Bariatric (gastric sleeves) u00b7 Patient to Nurse Ratio is 6:1 with PCT support u00b7 This unit experiences low turnover due to the excellent teamwork, tenured staff, and physician support within the department u00b7 The culture felt on the unit is energizing and friendly. The staff are helpful, knowledgeable, and express a willingness to learn. u00b7 Highly motivated staff with clinical expertise on management of different surgery care. u00b7 Excellent Physician-Nurse collabortation u00b7 Multtiple laparasocpic surgeries with many nursing opportunites for leaning u00b7 What You Will Do In Your Role: Apply critical thinking and nursing skills in the preparation and management of variety of surgical procedure. Extensive collaboration with surgeon in the management of patient Use of protocols and guidelines in the management of post op procedures Including bariatric procedures. Collaboration with ancillary staff in the discharge planning of patients post operatively Medical Telemetry + 27 beds + Patient to Nurse Ratio: 5-6:1 + PCT support on each shift + Department consists of highly engaged and supportive staff and physicians that complete multidisciplinary rounds on the unit daily + Staff constantly seeks to advance skill in the management of complex patient care and nursing certification. + The unit provides nursing care to a variety of patients, including observation status for cardiac, renal, and neurology care. + Nurses are able to identify and care for patient with dysrrhtymias. + Nurses are have the knowledge and skills to manage post surgical patients, including laparascopic, orthopedic, and management of cardiac drips u00b7 What You Will Do In Your Role: Interaction with patients patients with the potential to saty short term 24-48 hours with cardiac, post-procedure with GI issues, and short term medication administration Short term monitoring for therapeutic and adverse response to medication. Preparation for and post-op care if patient ends up requiring higher level of care during observation status. u00b7 What You Will Do In Your Role: Learn new knowledge, skills, and technology in the management of cardiac related interventions. Collaborative relationship with cath lab, radiology, and cardiac interventionist. Promote patient satisfaction with diverse patient population. What You Will Do In Your Role: You will consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients. You will collaborate with the patient care team to achieve quality patient outcomes You will provide communication, confidence, and professionalism as evidenced by active engagement in unit and organizational activities You will demonstrate team work, adaptability, and serving as a resource to the patient care team You will have accountability for delivering quality nursing care services and for promoting a positive image of nursing What qualifications you will need: Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
