Kalogon, a smart seating startup based in Melbourne, seeks an experienced Director of Product Management to drive an expansion of our Product organization. Our team is actively awaiting you to make decisions and create pathways for our next generation of smart seating products across medical, Air Force, and interior applications. We are ready for you to take this to the next level and grow our business.The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of experience bringing hardware/IoT products from concept to market, with the ability to manage complex cross-functional initiatives and make strategic product decisions all while growing a team and delivering on our mission to eliminate the stresses of sitting and improve health through inventive seating technology.What Youll DoProduct Strategy & DevelopmentLead new product development initiatives across our three business lines, taking products from initial concept through market-ready launchDrive next-generation updates to existing products, balancing customer needs with technical feasibility and business objectivesDefine product roadmaps and prioritize features based on market research, customer feedback, and business impactMake critical resource allocation decisions across multiple product lines in collaboration with leadership Cross-Functional LeadershipArchitect and hire a product organization aligned to company goalsCollaborate closely with engineering and production teams to ensure technical specifications align with market requirements and manufacturing capabilitiesPartner with sales, marketing, and business development to support go-to-market strategies and customer acquisitionCoordinate with finance, sales, and executive teams on product profitability analysis, pricing strategies, and investment decisionsServe as a member of the Leadership teamCustomer & Market FocusConduct regular customer visits and maintain direct relationships with key accounts across medical, government, and commercial segmentsGather and synthesize customer feedback to inform product decisions and identify new market opportunitiesRepresent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings (travel ~10% of time, approximately one trip per month)Stay current on market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory requirements across target industriesSkills & Experience RequiredEssential Experience7-10 years of product management experience with demonstrated success bringing hardware or connected device products to market, including understanding of all key constraintsConfidence to bring your ideas to the table while having the humility to consider the expertise of othersAble to read the room and capably share your perspectiveCapable of deep empathy and compassion for key stakeholders, and able to discern the why behind the whyComfortable with ambiguity and able to thrive in a fast-paced startup environmentExperience recruiting and mentoring team members and establishing product processesPersonal AttributesWillingness to travel up to 10% of time for customer visits, trade shows, and industry eventsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field; MBA or MPD preferred but not requiredPreferred but not requiredStartup experience preferred, with understanding of scaling challenges and limited resource managementFamiliarity with regulatory environments, particularly in medical devices or government contractingExperience with seating, furniture, or ergonomic products is a plus, but not essentialExport-Control RequirementsTo conform to the U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. ? 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. ? 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
