Swim Instructor - Hickory Foundation YMCA

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director/Coordinator and in accordance with the mission of the YMCA, the Swim Instructor is responsible for teaching swim lessons according to YMCA of the USA program standards.This job announcement is not intended to be inclusive of all functions, responsibilities and qualifications associated with the position, however, representative of the essential job functions and typical criteria considered necessary to successfully perform the position.Teach swim lessons according to YMCA of the USA standardsCreate a positive learning environment through personal enthusiasmBe safety-conscious, maintain order and enforce rules during lessons to ensure swimmer safetyKeep accurate records of attendance and skills achieved by each student, each sessionProvide each student with written records of progressUse swim aids effectively to maximize each individual’s practice timeUtilize written lesson plans for each lesson to make the most efficient use of class time Participate in all staff meetings and in-service trainingConduct program evaluations Carries out additional duties as assigned by supervisorMust be at least 16 years oldMust successfully complete, and maintain current certification, as a YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor (24 hours) prior to teaching alone or within 90 days if a current Red Cross Swim InstructorCurrent status in the following certifications, to be renewed annually:Professional Level CPRFirst AidAutomatic External Defibrillator (AED)Oxygen AdministrationMust complete the following trainings before working first shift and are to be renewed annually: Blood Borne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention.Must complete YMCA of Greater Charlotte New Staff Connection prior to employmentMust complete I Create Loyalty Training within 30 days of hireMust successfully complete at least 4 hours teaching under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Director/Coordinator or an experienced instructor before leading a class independentlyMust present a professional, mature image, and have excellent interpersonal communication skillsEmployee Assistance ProgramRetirement ContributionUSD $11.25 - USD $13.25 /Hr.
