The Event Security position is responsible for ensuring the safety and security for all events. Special security assignments may be available during non-event days/nights. The security team is a provider of direct service to our guests and must always exhibit a professional and courteous demeanor.This role will pay an hourly wage of $13 to $15.Benefits for PT roles: 401(k) savings plan and 401(k) matching.This position will remain open until December 31, 2025.This position is based at our Stormont Vail Events Center. The 80-acre site in the center of Topeka now known as the Stormont Vail Events Center has a long history of use for activities related to agriculture, farming, exhibitions, education and entertainment. Stormont Vail Events Center is a 10,000-seat multi-purpose arena built in 1987 in Topeka, Kansas. Landon Arena, named for Kansas' elder statesman, governor Alfred M. Landon (1887-1987) was built 1987.Monitors and operates closed circuit surveillance, access control and fire alarm systems.Vets all visitors/contractors, verifies appropriate credentials and prevents unauthorized access to the premises.Patrols all properties as required and ensures, ina friendly and professional manner,the security ofemployees, contracted building partners and visitors.Detects and resolves immediate safety and criminal issues; responds to the scene of an incident and acts as an emergency first responder if required.Acts as property first responder to alarms, medical calls, property damage, etc.Maintains absolute confidentiality on sensitive issues.Maintains accurate notes and log information as required; ensures that all pass-on information is communicated to the next shift.Completes all activity logs, incident reports, repair forms and other documents in a clear, concise, and legible format in a timely, efficient manner.Performs person and package/parcel screening according to policies and procedures.Conducts detailed internal investigations into incidents and provides detailed, objective reports for each shift or incident.Attends briefing and training sessions to ensure complete knowledge of policies and upcoming events.Greet all clients, employees, guests, and vendors in a professional manner.Follows established security protocols and procedures at all times.Represents the company in a positive and professional manner at all times.Other duties as assigned.Prior Customer Service Experience, preferredExcellent communication skills required with thorough understanding of written and spoken EnglishKnowledge and skill in radio communicationAbility to listen effectively, take and execute directions, as givenAbility to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidaysAbility to stand for long periods of timeAbility to exercise sound judgement to diffuse volatile situationsAbility to work independently and in a team environmentAbility to traverse a variety of terrain and floor surfaces including stairs, carpet, concreteAbility to work in darkened area, around crowds, loud noises and flashing lightsAbility to remain calm and focused in fast-paced environment and stressful situationsAbility to work outside, in adverse weather conditions, as neededAbility to direct guests where they need to go, as well as direct them in an emergencyMust be able to efficiently screen guest in the form of metal detecting via wands and bag checkingAt OVG, we understand that to continue positively disrupting the sports and live entertainment industry, we need a diverse team to help us do it.
