Event Managers coordinate the work of facility event staff and serve as a liaison between facility users and facility staff, service providers, public safety agencies and event attendees.The Event Manager is responsible responsible for and ensures overall customer and lessee satisfaction and experience.This role will pay an annual salary of $58,000-$73,000.Benefits for Full-Time roles: Health, Dental and Vision Insurance, 401(k) Savings Plan, 401(k) matching, and Paid Time Off (vacation days, sick days, and 11 holidays).This position will remain open until December 5, 2025.The Greater Richmond Convention Center is the largest meeting & exhibition venue in the Commonwealth of Virginia with 178,159 sq. ft. of contiguous Exhibit Hall space, a 30,550 sq. ft. Grand Ballroom and 50,000 sq. ft. of additional Meeting Room space. The facility is centrally located in Virginia in the Capital City of Richmond nestled between the Blue Ridgte Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean.Advance, plan, service, and supervise all eventsPlan, direct and evaluate the work of subordinatesProvide leadership and guidance for event personnelAnalyze challenges, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of organizational objectivesCommunicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writingEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with lessees/clients, co-workers, part-time staff, contractors, patrons/public and municipal officialsWork a flexible schedule, including long nights, early mornings, weekends & holidays as neededComplete all duties with a customer service focus through teamwork & dedication to OVG’s principlesAssist in the preparation of building to meet the requirements of upcoming events/showsAssist with the completion of pre-show event financial estimatesAssist with the completion of post-show event settlementsAdvise lessees on services available from independent contractors for eventsRecruit, train, and supervise event & security staffCreate work schedules for event & security staff, delegate assignments, and review performance/resultsFunction as a liaison between users of the facility and the facility staffRecommend and evaluate required event staffing levelsCoordinate communication between building staff and show staff during load in and load outInvestigate and resolve event-related complaints in a professional manner ensuring customer satisfactionMaintain equipment (radios, metal detection wands, etc.) for all event and security staffMake hospitality arrangements as neededCommunicate with municipal officials, including police, fire and medical services, event staff and public to ensure security of patrons and events run smoothlyReview emergency planning procedures with all event staff for each eventCreate and distribute detailed data sheets prior to every eventPrepare and approve bi-weekly payroll for all event staff and security staffCoordinate service needs with Food and Beverage provider & make hospitality arrangements as neededServe as Manager on Duty as scheduledOther duties and responsibilities as assigned3-5 years of increasingly responsible experience in event management in a stadium, arena, convention center or public assembly facility settingBachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university with major coursework in facility management, hospitality management, business, or related fieldStrong oral and written communication skills Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, word processing, and Internet Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Virginia drivers’ licensePossession of, or ability to obtain a current CPR certificateKnowledge of operational characteristics of eventsAbility to identify the needs of users of the facilityKnowledge of crowd management and control techniquesKnowledge of customer service practicesKnowledge of principles of supervision, scheduling, and training employeesDemonstrated familiarity with facility use contractsKnowledge of fire and public safety regulationsKnowledge of A/V equipment and electronic systems in public assembly facilitiesExperience with budget preparation and controlFamiliarity with terminology used in entertainment/convention/public assembly settingsExperience with Social Tables and Ungerboeck software is preferred but not requiredWork a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended (long) workdays and extended numbers of daysAt OVG, we understand that to continue positively disrupting the sports and live entertainment industry, we need a diverse team to help us do it.
