DescriptionBrown and Caldwell has an exciting job opportunity for a self-motivated Engineer to join our Columbus team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a growth-oriented professional consulting office with a diverse technical staff of geologists, engineers, and scientists. The selected candidate will work with and be mentored by strong, nationally recognized, senior staff working on a variety of environmental related projects.Detailed Description:Perform engineering work with the water/wastewater engineering groupWork on engineering designs preparing reports, construction plans, specifications, calculations, equipment selection, and cost estimates for various projectsCheck performance or conformity with plans and specifications through field inspection and testingAssist with the preparation of technical memoranda, reports and electronic deliverablesAssist with studies and alternative analysisDevelop understanding of regulatory and permitting requirements for Columbus and State of OhioAssist with development of permitting plans and permit applicationDuties also include field activities and site investigationsData collection, manipulation, analysis, and documentationDesired Skills and Experience:B.S. in Civil/Environmental Engineering (or related) required, M.S. a plusExperience and/or coursework in water/wastewater treatment and conveyance requiredMust be a self-starter, highly organized, results-oriented, reliable, and able to work well with a wide variety of coworkers and subcontractors.Experience using engineering calculation software (MathCAD, MATLAB) a plusExperience using AutoCAD preferredExperience using ArcGIS a plusExperience using hydraulic modeling software a plusMust be willing to work in the field periodically.Field assignments require ability to perform physically demanding work.40-hour HAZWOPER certification a plus.Candidates should have a strong desire and be motivated to obtain a Fundamentals of Engineering certification, followed by the Registered Professional Engineer licensure or equivalent licensure within 3-5 years.Excellent technical writing capabilities required.Must be proficient in using standard computer programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with MS Project, MS Access, CADD, ArcGIS, a plusValid driver's license and good driving record.Ability to work for short periods of time in extreme temperatures including heat.Ability to wear required safety equipment at sites including hard hats, steel toed boots (or other approved toe protection), safety glasses, etc.Ability to stand for several hours observing and documenting critical construction operations (i.e. pouring concrete).Ability to remain alert and vigilant while working around construction equipment and be able to walk swiftly for a short distance to clear an area where a potential hazard is identified.Ability to climb stairs (2-3 flights) or ladders (up to 24 foot typically) to access structures for visual inspection.Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
