Full Time Shift Day Work Schedule Summary VP Area U of U Health - Academics Department 00213 - CVRTI Location Campus City Salt Lake City, UT Type of Recruitment External Posting Pay Rate Range 62000 to 70000 Close Date 12/31/2025 Priority Review Date (Note - Posting may close at any time) Job Summary The Shaw Lab at The Nora Eccles Harrison Cardiovascular Research and Training Institute ( CVRTI ), is seeking a motivated postdoctoral fellow to work on projects that bridge from basic cell biology to small and large animal model systems. The focus of the lab is GJA1-20k with application to Connexin43 trafficking, mitochondrial biology, ischemia-reperfusion injury, and arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy. Background in basic cell biology as well as animal studies is preferred. The applicant must have a strong interest in pursuing an academic career and in therapeutic development. The environment at the CVRTI is highly interactive, collaborative, friendly, and offers a great location in Salt Lake City for superb outdoor recreational activities. Responsibilities The position is a unique opportunity to gain experience in both basic and translational large animal cardiovascular research using state-of-the art approaches in cell biology, imaging, therapeutic development, and next generation gene therapy. Minimum Qualifications Preferences The successful applicant will have a background in cell and molecular biology and animal studies. Intellectual creativity, ability to work independently and mentor lab technicians in support of the projects, and an interest in an academic faculty position after postdoctoral training are all preferred. The applicant must be within two years of the terminal doctoral degree.
