Duties: Function as a technical specialist or in a lead role; apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods; expand knowledge and skill set in area of discipline; expand knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas. Continue to learn, remain current and apply independent knowledge and interpretation about departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies and procedures relative to assigned tasks. Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables. Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Plan and conduct independent evaluation, selection and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Review lower-level engineering work or assignments; oversee collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work; lead smaller production teams; and serve as the responsible charge for a project. Actively coordinate with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects. Assist with identification of key client interests and drivers on less complex projects. Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on less complex projects; provide support to business development or pursuit activities. Act as a technical specialist for the structural department having in-depth knowledge of an engineering process and/or of technical aspects of an industry. Design a complete project of moderately complex scope within an assigned practice area(s). Assist with performance management process, mentoring, recognition, and any corrective actions required. Applicants for this position must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require employer sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (i.e., H-1B visa, TN visa or any Requirements: Master's degree in Civil Engineering, or related discipline, plus at least three years of related experience. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or related discipline, plus at least five years of related experience. Must have successfully passed the Professional Engineer licensing exam. Must have experience using Project wise, AutoCAD (or MicroStation), and Hilti Profis. Must have experience with the latest editions of ASCE 7, ACI 318 and AISC Steel Manual. Must have experience in High Voltage (HV)/Extra-high Voltage (EHV) GIS substation design, including the design of structural steel and reinforced concrete foundations (shallow and deep / pile), as well as the anchorage of the structures to those foundations. Must have experience with structural anchorage design including cast in place anchors and post installed chemical and mechanical anchors. Must have experience working with utility clients. Must have experience developing deliverables and drawings based on calculations. Must have experience using various finite element design software including RISA-3D/STAAD, ETABS, Hilti Profis, SAFE, STAAD Foundation, SP-Mats, and SP-Col. Must have experience with development and distribution of environment loads, including Wind, Seismic, Snow, and Hydrostatic on various substation structural elements and components in accordance with applicable design codes including ICC, ASCE. Must have experience in designing the gravity (gravity columns, beams, slabs, decks) and lateral load resisting systems (Braced Frames, Diaphragms) of a GIS/Control building. Must have experience in designing the PEMB foundations. Must have experience in designing the shear & moment connections of two or more structural steel members. Must have experience in designing the crane runway beams and crane corbels. Must have experience in designing the dead-end structures using the sag tension reports provided by Transmission line engineers. Must have experience in designing the Transformer Firewalls. Must have experience in designing the structural steel frames for outdoor electrical equipment including CT, PT, SA Bus Supports, and Disconnect Switch. Must have experience in reviewing various vendor drawings and cut sheets including GIB vendor data, PEMB drawing & calculation package, and LCC panel information. Must have experience with designing retaining structures including Dyke walls, retaining walls, and basement walls. Telecommuting is permitted within a reasonable commuting distance from the employer's Denver, CO Office location. Up to 10% national travel may be required. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.
