Underwriting Consultant

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Description We are seeking an experienced Underwriterto join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performingfinancial analysis, assessing risk, and developing pricing strategiesfor both new business and renewals. You will collaborate closely withsales teams and occasionally engage directly with client managers tonegotiate financial terms. This role applies underwriting guidelines andsound business judgment to develop strategic pricing recommendationsthat support Medica's financial performance and client retention goals.The ideal candidate will be an experienced underwriter with a stronganalytical mindset, confident decision-making skills, and the ability toeffectively translate complex data into actionable insights. They willalso demonstrate exceptional communication skills and a collaborativeapproach to working cross-functionally with sales, actuarial, and otherbusiness stakeholders. Performs other duties as assigned. KeyAccountabilities Conduct detailed financial and risk analyses todetermine pricing for new and renewal business in the large groupsegment Collaborate with Sales to develop renewal strategies andcommunicate the rationale behind pricing decisions to internalstakeholders and clients Develop and apply an understanding ofunderwriting risk principles, pricing guidelines, and competitive markettrends to support decision-making Complete actuarial and macro-levelfinancial analyses to inform underwriting strategy, pricing policies,and business development initiatives Qualifications Bachelor's degreein Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics or a related field (orequivalent work experience) Minimum of 3 years of underwriting orrelevant professional experience post-degree Strongly Preferredexperience Experience in healthcare underwriting, particularly largegroup pricing and renewal Proficient in risk assessment and data-drivendecision-making Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel Familiarity withunderwriting software and data analytics tools Skills and AbilitiesStrong analytical and financial modeling skills Solid business acumenand understanding of pricing impact Clear and effective communicator,both written and verbal Confident decision-maker with sound judgmentCollaborative team player with cross-functional experience Flexible andadaptable in a fast-paced environment This position is an Office role,which requires an employee to work onsite, on average, 3 days per week.We are open to candidates located near one of the following officelocations: Minnetonka, MN, or Madison, WI. The full salary range forthis position is $68,800 - $118,000.
