PositionOverview The Category Manager - Plastics is responsible for thedevelopment and execution of category strategies for plastic componentsand materials used across Exact Sciences' diagnostics portfolio andlaboratory operations. This includes resin, injection-molded parts,consumables, containers, vials, caps, pipette tips, and custom plasticassemblies. The Category Manager collaborates closely with stakeholdersin R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Lab Operations, Regulatory and PackagingEngineering to ensure the availability of fit-for-purpose plasticmaterials that meet design, regulatory, and performance specifications.The role focuses on supplier development, cost optimization, riskmitigation, and support for new product and process introductionsinvolving plastic components. This role reports to the AssociateDirector, Strategic Sourcing - Global Category Management. EssentialDuties Include, but are not limited to, the following: Serves assourcing SME for plastics, including resin, injection-molded parts,thermoformed trays, rigid containers, closures, labware, and diagnostickit components made of engineered or commodity-grade polymers. Monitorsthe external environment to identify new trends and opportunities.Develop and execute sourcing strategies that address costcompetitiveness, mold/tooling requirements, regulatory compliance, andsustainability considerations in plastics. Collaborate with Engineering,R&D, and Quality functions, as well as Contract Manufacturers, tosupport component design, material selection, supplier qualification,and testing related to plastic components. Manage supplier relationshipsacross both custom and off-the-shelf plastic products, includingcontract manufacturers and toolmakers. Engages business stakeholders toclarify and prioritize the value that is required from the category.Collaborates to establish category targets and tracks progress againsttargets.
