Come be a part of theexciting research enterprise at UW-Madison and contribute to importantdiscoveries that lead to better lives for humans and animals. This is afull-time, non-tenure track position reporting to the AttendingVeterinarian. Responsibilities include providing veterinary care andclinical oversight to research species in biomedical settings,especially nonhuman primates. The selected candidate will also serve onan Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and assistfaculty and research staff with development of animal models and animaluse protocol applications. The Veterinarian also assists in trainingprograms for investigators, research staff, animal care staff, and otherveterinarians; assists units in maintaining AAALAC accreditation, andprovides surgical and postoperative care to research animals. Primaryduties are caring for animals in the College of Letters and Science,including a colony of nonhuman primates.Key Job Responsibilities:Designs and implements animal care programs of preventive medicine fordesignated individual animals and colonies Conducts physical exams,diagnoses medical conditions, treats injuries and diseases, and providessurgical and post-operative care for animals in various environmentsDocuments medical procedures and activity, disseminates information, andmakes medical recommendations based on results Serves as a subjectmatter expert, consultant, and unit liaison to internal and externalstakeholders and leadership regarding research protocols Assists in thedevelopment and review of protocols, operating policies and procedures,and grant applications as needed Develops and facilitates trainings,educational courses, and affiliated materials to staff and students...For full info follow application link.
