PositionOverview This position is focused on providing strategic direction onand execution of infrastructure, security, continuous integration,deployment, and IT operations practices, scaling and metrics, as well asrunning day-to-day operations of production and developmentinfrastructure for a cloud based hosted platforms. The SeniorSiteReliability Engineer (SRE) will work with Senior Software Engineers,DataArchitects, and Product Managersto analyze system and network loads toaddress stability and performance challenges, and collaborate withothers to operate various systems. TheSenior SRE leads ongoingapplication support by diagnosing and resolving issues, maintainingapplications, and evaluating and recommending options for improvingperformance, maintainability and operability. This alsoincludesstreamlining processes to increase system scalability andreliability, improve efficiency, and minimize errors. This is a hybridposition, located in Madison WI. Essential Duties include but are notlimited to the following: Lead engineering efforts leveraging Amazon WebServices (AWS) or other cloud technology platforms, Ansible, Python,Bash, Java, JavaScript, Linux. Champion security and encryption bestpractices. Responsible for designing, building, maintaining, and scalingproduction services and server farms across multiple data centers forcomplex and data-intensive cloud services. Design and enhance softwarearchitecture to improve scalability, service reliability, capacity, andperformance. Write automation code for provisioning and operatinginfrastructure at massive scale. You are not an operator, you're anexperienced software engineer focused on operations. Work withdevelopment teams to make sure the applications fit nicely within theinfrastructure and scalability/reliability is designed and implementedfrom the grounds up. You will work with QA on building pipelines andautomation for delivering and deploying applications to production.On-call rotation supporting the infrastructure.
