Yard Goat Driver / Distribution Material Handler II

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for driving and maneuvering yard goat and trailers from dock to dock switching out trailers to keep receiving activities movingResponsible for drop and hook trailers safelyResponsible for performing yard audits at beginning and end of shiftEnsure that trailers are properly positioned for loading and unloading for pre- and post-trip inspections and submitting reports indicating truck conditionsPerform daily safety checks on yard truck and report any issues to managementMaintain a clean and organized yardResponsible for performing pre- and post-trip inspections and submitting reports indicating truck conditionsAdhere to guidelines of safety-sensitive functions pertaining to job responsibilities within the yardCommunicate with others including management to ensure efficient operations are being performedConduct material handling tasks when not operating yard goatPerform any other distribution material handling tasks when not operating yard goat, e. operating sit down and reach forklifts including loading, unloading trucks and putting away materials in locationsOther duties and responsibilities as assigned by managementTractor Trailer experienceHigh school diploma or equivalentAbility to read, write, and communicate effectively in EnglishAbility to lift to 25 lbsAbility to work independentlyAttention to detailPossess a team-player attitudeMay substitute local for over-the-road experienceThis position must pass pre-hire background and drug testDESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)Basic computer skillsAbility to read, understand, and demonstrate safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to request and complete trailer moves in the Yard Management System (YMS)Rain Bird is an equal opportunity employer.
