The center holds Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care from The Joint Commission.PHARMACY TECHNICIAN IIIPosition SummaryAssists with operational and distribution responsibilities related to Pharmacy Technician functions, including the use of Orlando Health software and hardware systems.Essential Functions• Demonstrates an understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.• Demonstrates an understanding of the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals, customer service, and objectives ofthe Pharmacy and Orlando Health.• Demonstrates familiarity with the general duties and processes of the Pharmacy department.• Demonstrates the ability to Identify and utilize resources and departments for customer service and patient care, based upon need,availability, and responsibility of resources.• Demonstrates the ability to operate the equipment required for pharmacy procedures, consistent with operating instructions, safetyregulations, and policy and procedures.• Performs the basic Pharmacy Technician procedures required by the assigned area consistent with scientific principles, policy, andprocedures.• Performs the basic buyer procedures, including drug procurement required by the department, consistent with departmentalprinciples and Orlando Health policies and procedures.• Accurately assists the Pharmacist in all duties pertaining to the medication distribution, including proper aseptic techniques foradmixture of various types of medication (e.g. chemotherapy) and functionally performing tasks/procedures associated withautomated dispensing cabinets.• Maintains USP 797 standards and other regulatory required documentation.• Maintains safe handling and proper disposal requirements.• Maintains the controlled substance vault and perpetual inventory and other documentation files depending on the needs of the department.• Completes special projects as assigned.• Participates in the training of new pharmacy technicians and may verify final competency as needed. • Maintains advanced expertise in and actively covers technician services in a specialized practice area (e.g. medication historyacquisition-controlled substance inventory management).• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state,and local standards.• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.Other Related Functions• Attends in-services/meetings as required.• Assumes responsibility for professional development and continuing education.• Completes all Orlando Health mandatory educationEducation/TrainingHigh school diploma or equivalent.Licensure/Certification• Maintains current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy.• Holds a current Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate (CPht) from a nationally recognized program (e.g., Pharmacy Technician Certification Board - PTCB, Institute of Pharmacy Technicians - ICPT). Maintenance of current certification is required.ExperienceTwo (2) years of experience as a pharmacy technician.
