Youth Development TeacherWorks directly with youth in a Licensed before and after-school setting at local elementary school site. As part of a team, they impact youth’s lives by helping youth learn, grow, and develop. By exemplifying and teaching skills through both formal and informal lessons, in a safe and supportive environment, the Youth Development Teacher leads youth in becoming great citizens. Completion, with passing grades, of 12 units in Child Development (CD) or related field. (Related fields can include: Arts, Early Childhood Education, Education, Humanities, Physical Education, Psychology, Recreation, Sociology, and Theater)Completion, with passing grades, of 6 units with 6 more units of current enrollment in Child Development or related field will be considered. Minimum of 6 months working in a child and youth development, education, or comparable setting preferred Basic computer skills and ability to speak, read, and write the English language. Additional languages are highly desirable Must have a sincere interest in working with children 5-12 years of age and the ability to relate to children and adults in a professional mannerCriminal record clearance in accordance with YMCA and Community Care Licensing guidelines. Successfully pass a physical exam and provide negative TB test results within 7 days of hire. (TB test results need to be current within 1 year.)Must provide proof of measles (MMR), pertussis (TDap), and influenza immunizations within 7 days of hire. (TDap needs to be current within 10 years, MMR does not need to be renewed.)
