Environmental Intern - Summer 2026

ABOUT THE POSITIONVHB’s Providence, RI office is looking for an Environmental Intern to join our team for the Summer of 2026. This internship may assist with our Water Resources, Site Investigation and Remediation, and Natural Resources teams.ResponsibilitiesConduct a wide array of water resources related studies and analysis including: Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of stormwater systems, analysis and design of conveyance systems, design of stormwater management facilities, coastal impacts, and floodplain analysisConduct data collection and field workAnalysis of impaired watersheds and identification of potential areas for stormwater treatmentSupport projects related to stormwater permitting compliance for municipal, industrial and transportation clientsWetland delineationsThreatened and endangered species surveysPlant identification and vegetation inventorySkills and AttributesExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to independently manage multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with teammatesWillingness to support different engineering disciplinesSelf-motivated with attention to detailGood time management skills and the ability to meet deadlinesQualificationsCandidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, environmental science or related fieldVHB does not provide housing for internships.We are VHB!We’re an inspired and innovative team of engineers, scientists, planners, and designers who partner with clients in the transportation, real estate, institutional, and energy industries, as well as federal, state, and local governments.
