Job Description

Our Plymouth Meeting, PA office is looking for a Substation Physical Designer with 8+ years of experience to join our Power Delivery team!Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the design and preparation of the following substation drawings:Substation one-lines and three-linesStation general arrangements and sectionsElectrical detailsGrounding plan and detailsConduit plan and detailsControl cubicle layout, sections, cable tray, lighting, and groundingLow-voltage AC panelsGroundingLightning protectionIlluminationDevelopment of bills of materials and general arrangements from substation one-line diagramsCoordination with protection and controls, civil/structural, and drafting disciplines to ensure quality deliverablesParticipation in client meetings and site visits for data gathering, as requiredInterpretation and incorporation of vendor information into design deliverablesApplication of client standards related to the workPerforming and ensuring the company’s Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes are followed for all design packagesContinuous improvement of job-related engineering, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance#LI-MS8+ years of relevant experience in Substation Physical designHigh school diploma or equivalent (associates degree preferred)Knowledge of substation design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of technical drawings and modelsAdvanced knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk or Bentley productsStrong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learnAbility to work independently and with a teamWillingness to mentor and teach othersDetail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starterAt Kimley-Horn, we do things differently.
